Day 10 - Work, Food & Travel Planning: Taking time out to catch up
A catchup day was well needed after yesterday’s adventure through London City catching up with family & eating wayyy too much.
15/11/2023
Wednesday morning began with a stint of work in the morning, followed by a short trip on the 65 bus through to Richmond, where Chelsea and I setup in a Starbucks cafe to continue some work as well as get some pressing travel planning sorted (holidaying is hard work alright…).
After a long time spent checking flights, trains, accommodation, speaking with friends about timing, and a few website crashes (cough cough British Airways), we finally had a few more steps planned out for our future adventures.
We’re now booked in to catch our first “big” train out to Bath on 25th of November to catch up with friends (Paige & Toby from Cap Coast) to explore Bath and see the Christmas Markets for the day.
While sorting that out, we also managed to organise a trip that I have wanted to do before jetting off to Switzerland with Mum & Dad, and that is to visit Edinburgh up in Scotland! We searched through trains & planes and decided on a flight up to Scotland on the 27th November, returning on the 30th. We’ve also booked a hotel in the centre of the Old Town, so this should allow us to walk everywhere and avoid some public transport (we get enough of that here in London). Scotland will be our first new country (UK constituent but still!) we will visit on our Europe trip - exciting stuff!
After the trials and tribulations of using multiple booking sites, we were a bit pent up, so packed up and took a stroll through the alleyways of Richmond, before falling for the same smells coming from Sebastians Italian restaurant and heading in to share a pizza (soooo good!).
We were quite proud of ourselves for only getting one pizza, as everything on the menu sounds great! To reward ourselves for not overindulging there, we overindulged somewhere else - Danieli, with their Signature Hot Chocolate dessert. We did order the small… but honestly, I don’t know how anyone could want the large! We barely got through the small together, super thick and rich.
After a successful day of work, travel planning, and having some great food, we caught the bus back home to spend some time at home and get an early night.
Not a jam-packed day today, and didn’t even take the camera! I’m sure we’ll have bigger and better days, but sometimes you just need to take time to settle down and relax.
Cheers,
Matt & Chels
